Victoria Valley is a sheltered tract of land nestled between the Victoria and Serra Ranges of the Grampians National Park - Gariwerd, in Western Victoria. The rugged sandstone mountain ranges are striking in their natural beauty and are a popular tourist destination. The area also has cultural significance, with several ancient sites of Aboriginal rock art which depict images associated with indigenous life, initiation ceremonies and law.
The climate and soil of the valley offers excellent conditions for farming beef cattle and superfine Merino wool and visitors can see large numbers of kangaroos and emus grazing alongside the livestock in their natural habitat.
There are over a thousand species of native plants, including the most colourful native orchids and wildflowers, some of which can be found nowhere else in the world. It is also home to more than a quarter of all Australian native birds, over 30 native mammals and the elusive ‘Grampians Panther’ or wild cat.
