Many charming old cottages still standing in Gloucestershire today, were made from the warm honey coloured limestone that was quarried locally in  the Cotswolds.  The stone was used alike for humble weavers’ cottages, churches, mansions and castles, giving the small towns and villages of the area a distinctive ‘old world’ feel.
